The Debian 9.5 Stretch appliance has VMware Tools installed and the shared folders feature has been tested and works. This is currently the latest Debian distro and nonetheless a lightweight download under 1GB. For being slim, heavier apps like LibreOffice, Gimp, and others have not been installed or removed from the original installation.

Out of the box this image uses the Xfce desktop environment, which reacts swiftly and generally makes a nice impression. It also doesn't limit the user as much as the newer Gnome desktop with regard to settings and fine tuning.

Applications: Firefox, compiler chain, and all typcical audio, CD, video, and system tools.
